The proliferation of technology especially smartphones has gradually influenced the way people communicate and rise of Internet slang and the Online Poker Industry was also not spared.
Internet slang originated in the early days of the Internet with some terms predating the Internet. Internet slang is used in chat rooms, social networking services, online games, video games and in the online community. The primary motivation for using a slang unique to the Internet, is to ease communication.
Online games provide chat boxes People were writing these weird letter combinations in the chat box, and I had no idea what they meant. I didn’t have much experience with online gaming, so most of the expressions were completely new to me.
Every online game provides chat boxes to communicate across tables to invoke real time experience. As an amateur player, I could not make out most of the Poker slangs and short forms from the Chat box. Online Poker was something new to me.
